Supergirl Has Found Its Superman

Tyler_Hoechlin_SDCC_2014_(cropped)It was announced not too long ago that Superman would be appearing in the beginning of the second season of Supergirl. Up to this point the character has only appeared in texts or in the shadows with glimpses. Today its been revealed who will be stepping into the Man of Steel’s red boots.

Tyler Hoechlin has been cast in the role of the iconic character. He’ll appear in the first two episodes of season two. Mostly known for his role as Derek Hale in the television series Teen Wolf as well as Martin Brewer in 7th Heaven, Hoechlin isn’t a stranger to live action comic adaptations. He played Michael Sullivan Jr. in 2002’s Road to Perdition which was adapted from a graphic novel published by DC Comics’ Paradox Press and later reprinted as part of the Vertigo Crime line of graphic novels.

It was rumored he was up for the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. That role eventually went to Ben Affleck.

Supergirl was previously airing Monday nights on CBS. It was announced the series would be moving to The CW but remain in its familiar 8pm Monday time slot. It joins Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow, all television shows based on DC Comics characters and properties.
