Review: I, Mage #3

I Mage 3 DIGITAL-1Kai, Zawa, Skirnir and L’derOne converge upon a dwarven town sieged by the all-powerful Overq’sai and his forces. A judgement will be made leaving the fates of the town and their champions hanging in the balance. This is the action packed conclusion to the first chapter in our epic story.

The last issue of I, Mage ended with high tensions, and it set up this latest issue as ready for a scene of explosive combat. This issue delivers exactly that, as magic, steel, and technology clash against a horde of demons and orcs. But, through all of that action the battle reveals a few things about the two villains, and how the world seems to work.

The scenes of combat are gorgeous and colorful. Artist Mel Bontrager depicts every action reads like a miniature movie brought to life by the traditional comic book format. I love how you finally see some powerful magic at works as the two sides clash.
