Gen Con has reached a new agreement with Sun King Brewing, extending a partnership that began in 2012. As part of this deal, they again will operate an outdoor, ages 21- and-older, beer garden, hold a naming contest among Gen Con fans for an official 2016 beer, and host a tapping “kickoff” party on the evening of August 3 in Indianapolis.

While Gen Con and Sun King have had four previous naming contests for official beers, this year’s naming selection process will give Gen Con fans more control than ever before. Sun King will craft a beer specifically based on the name chosen by attendees, as opposed to attendees naming a previously chosen beer style.

This year, fans will submit names based on the Gen Con 2016 theme Share Your Legends. Once the name has been selected, Sun King’s brewer and owner Dave Colt will carefully research and select ingredients and a style that will live up to the selected beer name.
