TV Review: DC’s Legends of Tomorrow S1E7 Marooned

Legends of Tomorrow PosterIn DC’s Legends of Tomorrow seventh episode Rip tries to rescue a timeship stranded in space and uses the other ship’s computer to track Savage. But the situation turns into a trap and the team ends up battling time pirates.

This episode isn’t a bad one, but at the same time it feels a bit like an attempt to have the show other than the team dealing with Vandal Savage in different time periods and also avoid the episode being about some special appearance of a character that’ll get comic fans super excited, it’s trying to be more than a new special appearance each week. It’s a welcome change, though not completely successful.

The look and feel of the episode feels like a British space sci-fi show during the 90s, it feels very Red Dwarf, but missing the funny. With some humor, it’d at least have that. The episode just feels rather boring and bland with the action focused on the last 20 minutes of the show.

And I think the rather boring and bland is what makes the episode a let down. The show literally has all of time and space at its disposal and it gives us this.

What the show does decently is focus on Rip Hunter. Interspersed through the modern events, the show lifts the veil a bit to give us more information about Rip. It’s a nice way to show an origin without just dedicating an entire episode. It gives the character more motivation as to his actions.

The episode continues to be hit and miss. It’s not bad, don’t get me wrong. We’ve just seen so much better elsewhere that the show feels like it’s just not living up to its potential.
