TV Review: The Walking Dead S6E9 No Way Out
The Walking Dead is back for the second half of the season and boy is it a doozy. There’s some iconic moments in the comic book series and the television show has had some amazing moments, but has skipped a few of those truly shocking moments, until now.
If you don’t remember, Alexandria had fallen and been overrun by walkers. The group was doing what it could to escape and we were left with that ominous sign as the last episode ended where you know some folks were going to die, and boy were there quite a few.
But, before we get to that, there’s Negan’s crew, who we were introduced to in a post credit teaser some time ago. That part of the story is dealt with right away. The less said the better.
But it’s what goes on in the town that’s amazing. We get a shocking moment that had me yelling out loud “holy shit.” And it also led to a lot of action and drama as the town stands up and fights as one to take on the zombies.
While the series might feature the undead walking around, it truly is a drama as its focus is on the characters that live in this new world, and here we see so many emotions displayed within the hour. Anger, fear, sadness, rage, and leadership, humanity, also community. So much of it in the center of the show Rick. And those final moments are some of the best television I’ve seen on this series.
This episode is not just a great return, but also a near perfect one. Satisfying and shocking at the same time.
