Capital Con DC 2015 Cancelled
The first ever Capital Con was supposed to take place this coming weekend June 19-21. Today an email and Tweet went up announcing the cancellation of the convention.
The convention’s goal was to promote science fiction and fantasy genres with a small annual community event in the Washington, DC area. The convention was being held at the Washington Court Hotel.
Guests were to include Doug Jones, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Leanne Hannah, and a whole lot more.
In an email to attendees the convention said:
We regret to announce due to issues with the hotel that we will have to cancel our first Capital Con DC. We have been working hard on this convention for about two years now and to see it fall apart the week before the date has been truly hard on the staff. We plan to refund all vendors, artists, authors, and attendees in a timely manner. Since some of our funds have been used for convention management, the refunds may not come immediately as we will have to dip in our own pockets to refund everyone. We hope to have everyone refunded by August 1st at the very least.
The also Tweeted the announcement:
The convention is one of many that have been cancelled this year or rescheduled for 2016. It’ll be interesting to see where this convention goes from here.
