expeditionAlmost 20 years after the release of Chuck Palahniuk’s novel Fight Club, and a week after Dark Horse Comics published the first issue of the highly anticipated and controversial Fight Club 2 mini-series, Rare Bird Lit officially announced the upcoming vinyl audiobook release of Palahniuk’s Fight Club prequel story “Expedition ” and released an excerpt via SoundCloud.  Rare Bird Lit’s vinyl audiobook release features Palahniuk reading the short story “Expedition” from Doubleday’s new story collection, Make Something Up: Stories You Can’t Unread accompanied by music by Brian Jonestown Massacre’s Rob Campanella and featuring album art by Fight Club 2 cover artist David Mack.

“Expedition” takes place before the events of the bestselling Fight Club novel and is an origin story of Tyler Durden. Hand-numbered copies of the single LP vinyl are available for pre-order now for a limited time for $30.00 via RareLit Bird and an exclusive San Diego Comic Con Rare Bird Lit San Diego Comic Con Variant Vinyl Audiobook will be sold at the Random House booth at San Diego Comic Con from July 8th through the 12th.

The “Expedition” vinyl record features the artwork from the cover of Fight Club 2 issue 2 by bestselling writer/artist David Mack. Fight Club 2 is illustrated by Eisner Award winning artist Cameron Stewart and colored by award winning Dave Stewart. The first issue of Fight Club 2 is available at comics shops, select bookstores and digitally via the Dark Horse digital store and app. A graphic novel collection of the series will be released next year.
