BOOM! Expands its Executive Team

We’ve been on the BOOM! Studios bandwagon for quite a while. The company is making some moves by expanding it’s executive team with one hire and one promotion. Stephen Christy, who was the editor-in-chief of Archaia Entertainment (BOOM! purchased the publisher in 2013), has been named president of development. Christy will oversee the film, television, web, and animation projects for the company. That includes all of the company’s brands, BOOM!, Archaia, KaBOOM! and BOOM! Box. Christy will report to BOOM! founder and CEO Ross Richie.

The company has made a hire as well. Adam Yoelin will be the senior vp film. He will focus on the numerous movies in the pipeline for the company. Last year, the comic publisher saw the first film based on one of their properties debut, 2 Guns. Yoelin will report to Christy.

The comic publisher has numerous projects in development including Rust, an adaptation of Archaia’s Royden Lepp graphic novel that has Carlos Saldanha attached to direct and set up at Fox. Fox 2000 is adapting Aline Brosh McKenna’s graphic novel Rochester. The company also has Day Men set up at Universal, while Unthinkable is housed at Fox TV.

  • I’m glad they’re starting to make bigger and faster moves. They’re a pretty big brand now and people should take notice of more of their stock. I’m hoping they don’t mess up any of their movies with bad directors or super low budget cinema houses. Theatrically released movies only, and tv shows with a full season are the ticket to win.
