Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Stumbles in the Second Week
After a solid debut, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. saw a drop in its second week on the air. The television show shed about a third of its young-adult audience and finished behind CBS’s juggernaut NCIS in key demographics. Typically you see a drop of 15% to 20% for new shows, so a 30% drop is rather abnormal and not a good sign for the fledgling show.
Overall, with the initial viewing, DVR playbacks and a second airing, the debut episode of the television show saw over 22 million people watch it. Those playbacks almost doubled the initial viewing audience. We’ll see if the second episode makes similar gains through people playing catch-up and viewing it on their own schedule.
Next week, things get a bit easier for the television show as NBC’s The Voice shifts to its 9pm slot and The Biggest Loser takes over at 8pm.
