It’s so much easier to cover negativity when it comes to the geek community, but when this came across my desk, it was hard to not point it out and give praise. Recently Wizard World announced a film festival and for those interested in judging applicants they had to fill out a form about themselves. Instead of the usual two choices of male and female, Wizard World also included “other” with a blank spot to fill out. The company has realized there’s more to gender identity than two choices.

Now compare this with a certain company that recently launched their own digital comic shop. Months later and there’s still only the choice of male and female.

Kudos to at least one company in the “geek” sphere for being progressive.
