Primates: The Fearless Science of Jane Goodall, Dian Fossey and Biruté Galdikas is a work of narrative non-fiction that shines a light on some of the very first scientific work done with chimpanzees, gorillas, and orangutans – work that was all done by scientists who were also women.

While the graphic novel isn’t a solid biographical tale, that’s not the point. The focus is on the three brilliant women who advanced our understanding of chimpanzees, gorillas, and orangutans. The graphic novel lays out really well hall all three of these women were intertwined and how important they are.

The only downside is that with only so much that can be covered some things are glossed over or rushed a little bit, but if you want to learn more, there’s a fantastic list of resources where folks can start.

This graphic novel is fantastic for kids interested in science. Hopefully it’d get them to do what these women did and pursue their dream.

The story is interesting, flows nicely and teaches a bit at the same time. The art is great as well and fits the narrative and how the graphic novel is written.

Overall, I highly recommend the graphic novel. It’s perfect for those that want to learn about these three women, especially kids who want to find out more about these important and strong women.
