Pick of the Week – My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic #1

It’s kind of hard to post this week’s picks without mentioning the juggernaut that’s being released this week, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic #1 being released by IDW. The comic is poised to be a behemoth, taking the popular cult cartoon and community it’s grown and giving them a comic to sink their teeth in to. The first issue has a print run of around 100,000 with a second print coming and some reports to us indicate the initial shipments will be allocated. If you can find a copy, grab it as this will be one of the most sought after comics of the year. Expect an onrush of Bronies…

  • My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic #1 – see above
  • Masks #1 – Dynamite’s other event brings together all of the classic characters they’re bringing back for the masses. The Spider, The Shadow, The Green Hornet, they’re all together here.
  • Nowhere Men #1 – “Science is the new Rock ‘N’ Roll” is the catch line to this new series that has scientists regarded as celebrities and explores where things went wrong. I’m sure this’ll be another Image sell-out.
  • FF #1 – This new team that’ll take over the Fantastic Four’s role on Earth has a lot of potential. It’s one of the new series in Marvel NOW! that really intrigues me.
  • Chew #30 – This is the half-way point for the series, in an issue that’ll get folks talking.
