Apes Still Rule as Cowboys Retreat and Cap Holds Strong

Rise of the Planet of the Apes remained at the top of the box office with some strong competition from the debut of The Help.  The apes brought in $27.5 million, just a drop of 49.8% in it’s second week.  The movie has brought in $104.9 million through ten days.  The movie cost $93 million to make, so it’s good to go at this point.

Cowboys & Aliens dropped 51.6% in it’s third week earning $7.6 million.  That put it just ahead of Captain America: The First Avenger which earned an estimated $7.1 million.  Cowboys & Aliens has now earned $81.5 million and the likelihood of it reaching $100 million domestically is slim.  Cap on the other hand is above $150 million and will likely end up around $160 million domestically.
