Official Press Release

ZENESCOPE TO RELEASE GRIMM FAIRY TALES’ THE LIBRARY

Philadelphia, PA, May 2, 2011– Zenescope Entertainment has announced plans to release a new Grimm Fairy Tales spinoff series geared toward all-ages readers.  The new five issue mini-series entitled The Library is being penned by Joe Brusha, writer of hit series Grimm Fairy Tales and Neverland, with the first issue scheduled to hit shelves in July of this year.

Grimm Fairy Tales’ The Library will be exploring an alternate reality of Zenescope’s Grimm Fairy Tales Universe and follows a teenage Sela Mathers as she and her younger brother discover an ancient and magical book inside a condemned library. The book unleashes a powerful spell as the two accidentally unlock characters and worlds from the other books within the Library.  Both heroes and villains such as Hercules, Frankenstein and the Wicked Witch of the East, are soon unleashed and the two kids find themselves in a race against time to reverse the spell before the villains can wreak havoc on Earth.

“I’ve always liked alternate reality stories and our Grimm Fairy Tales series is the perfect format to do one. We’ve already used a lot of well-known characters from fairy tales so we’re going to expand on that to pull in cool and interesting characters from different kinds of literature,” says Zenescope President and writer of The Library, Joe Brusha. “Reinventing Sela Mathers for this series, who’s become the mainstay of Grimm Fairy Tales, as a young teenager without all her current baggage, makes this series a lot of fun. She’s a lot more innocent and this series is not nearly as dark as some of the Grimm stories we’ve done.”

Zenescope Entertainment was founded by Joe Brusha and Ralph Tedesco in 2005 and has quickly grown into one of the top comic book and graphic novel publishing companies in the world.  Zenescope’s Grimm Fairy Tales and subsequent spinoff series such as Escape From Wonderland, Neverland and The Piper, which put a dark twist on classic fables, are some of the best-selling and longest running original independent comic books on shelves today.   Zenescope’s licensed titles include the on-going, critically acclaimed Charmed series, based off of the long-running popular television series, as well as Se7en and Final Destination, based off of New Line Cinema’s successful film franchises.
