Panel Discussions Featuring Disney Epic Mickey with Warren Spector and
TRON: Evolution Video Games Set to Entertain and Inform Fans
Next week’s New York Comic Con at the Jacob K. Javits Center will feature a dash of Mickey Mouse and a flash of TRON from Disney Interactive Studios. Informative panels on Disney Epic Mickey and TRON: Evolution will be presented at the show, with the Disney Epic Mickey panel being highlighted by famed video game creator, Warren Spector. Both games, due Holiday 2010, will also be playable on the show floor for all attendees.

Chris Whiteside, Design Director at Propaganda Games, and John Vignocchi, Development Director at Disney Interactive Studios will be presenting an inside look at the upcoming TRON: Evolution video game that bridges the story from the original TRON to the upcoming holiday film “TRON: Legacy.” UGO.com associate editor Matt Patches will serve as the moderator.
The team will be showing off new areas of the game, discussing free roaming game exploration, the unique high mobility combat and showing off the iconic light cycles while discussing their collaboration with the filmmakers to create a unique game. Attendees can expect to see exclusive narrative concept art, and hear behind the scenes insights on the creation of the game with film studio synergy, design decisions and more.
Also scheduled to be included in the panel is a look at the upcoming graphic novel, TRON: Betrayal, from Disney Publishing and the TRON iPhone app from Disney Mobile.
Video Game Information:
TRON: Evolution is set during the era between the two TRON films, “TRON” (1982) and the upcoming “TRON: Legacy” (release date: December 17, 2010). TRON: Evolution conveys the story of significant events within the TRON mythology. The game features an epic adventure across a massive digital world filled with high-mobility disc-based combat and advanced light cycles. TRON: Evolution is one of the keys to unlocking the TRON mythology. The game’s story takes place before the “TRON: Legacy” events and provides insight into the film’s past. As an integrated entertainment experience, the film will reference elements of the game’s story. Fans will want to play the game to learn more about the TRON mythology seen in the film, but each entertainment experience will stand on its own. TRON: Evolution games will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 system, Wii™, Windows PC, Nintendo DS™ and PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system. The Wii game’s title, which includes addictive four-player minigames, is TRON: Evolution – Battle Grids. The game’s release date is December 7.

Explore the power of the brush like never before as Warren Spector (General Manager and Creative Director, Junction Point – Disney Interactive Studios) unveils a new glimpse into the Disney Epic Mickey video game world of Wasteland and its forgotten cartoon character, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Joining him will be Peter David (award-winning comic writer) who will discuss the Disney Epic Mickey Digicomic, along with a selection from the Disney Epic Mickey graphic novel. Q&A opportunities will be available.
Video Game Information:
Disney Epic Mickey is an action-adventure platforming game for the Wii console that sends Mickey Mouse on an epic journey of creativity and discovery. As Mickey, the player is propelled into Wasteland, an alternate world made up of Disney’s long forgotten characters and attractions, and is given the power to wield paint and paint thinner to dynamically change the world while determining Mickey’s path to becoming an epic hero.
Through the use of this unique paint and paint thinner, the key components of animation and Mickey’s tools for impacting his world, players will have the ability to shape how the story unfolds as they discover the concept of “Playstyle Matters” – an innovative style of gameplay created by Disney Interactive Studios’ Junction Point, led by industry luminary Warren Spector, where players creatively tackle different challenges in the world to explore all the possibilities and storylines – but with consequences for their chosen actions. Disney Epic Mickey will be available exclusively for the Wii console on November 30.

Disney Publishing Worldwide will launch Disney Epic Mickey “Tales of Wasteland” Disney Digicomics in fall 2010. Available for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, Disney Digicomics is a new entertainment product that brings comics into the digital age through multiple platforms. Disney Epic Mickey “Tales of Wasteland “are 6 eight-page short comic stories that take place in “Wasteland”, an alternate world made up of Disney’s long forgotten characters and attractions. The Digicomics offer a preview of Wasteland and feature characters from the Disney Epic Mickey video game, including Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, one of Walt Disney’s beloved cartoon characters.

Disney Epic Mickey Graphic Novel Information:
This fall, Disney Epic Mickey will become a 64-page graphic novel, retelling the epic journey of Mickey Mouse in Wasteland. The graphic approach for this title will be consistent with the video game’s artistic style. The Disney Epic Mickey graphic novel will be available in both printed and digital format.
