Lucid was a comic that I thought sounded interested, and as usual with most of the Archaia comics I read, it meets and exceeds my expectations.  Lucid #1 is a fun, interesting and creative read.

Written by Michael McMillian with art by Anna Wieszczyk the story follows a clandestine government agency which mixes technology and magic to protect the world.  This is James Bond, but with magic.

The story is very cool, immediately throwing you into the action.  I loved the magic versus aspect of the series and it’s a great mash-up of so many different things that’ve come before.  It’s Men in Black, James Bond and Arthurian Legend all rolled into one.

A fun, entertaining read, and a definite buy.

Plot: McMillian has a great, action packed story.  Add on top of that some great characters with fun personalities, and you’ve got an entertaining story.  The pacing is fantastic, and I really liked being just thrown into what’s going on and picking up things after.  I just don’t know how many ways to say the story is really fun.  Rating: 8.5

Art: Wieszcyk’s art matches the fun of the story.  The design is very cool and very creative.  You can tell when an artist is enjoying what they’re working from, and it just comes off the page, with great art, color, everything.  Top notch stuff.  Rating: 8.5

Overall: It’s great when you can come away from a book and felt like you had fun reading it.  The story is great, the pace is perfect, I just can’t recommend it enough.  The overall feel is just a great mix of items, and I’m looking forward to the read the rest of the series.  Overall rating: 8.5
