New to Witchblade?  Don’t worry, there’s a handy page that’ll catch you up.  Now you have no excuse not to pick up one of the numerous series written by wunderkind Ron Marz who’s the master maestro setting the course for the Top Cow universe.

The issue sees the third part of the Witchblade and Aphrodite IV team up as they take on Cyberdata.

Sara Pezzini, the current bearer of the Witchblade, is caught between the deadly robotic assassin Aphrodite IV and the corrupt mega-corporation Cyberdata. Even with a mystical gauntlet at her disposal, will Sara be able to walk away from this encounter?

The issue leads directly into Artifacts #0 which was given out for Free Comic Book Day.  It’s entertaining, fun and has some twists I wasn’t expecting.

I’m definitely a fan of the Top Cow universe.  It’s well thought out, working as individual series or interconnected for a bigger story.  Take a dip in and check it out, you won’t be dissapointed.

Plot: Ron Marz is the man behind the curtain when it comes to writing and plotting out the this series among others which strengthens everything overall.  You can tell the plots and story-lines are thought out and there’s some sort of long term plan.  While this issue doesn’t have a ton in character development and interaction the actions and events will play out in the long run, especially in the upcoming event Artifacts.  Rating: 8.25

Art: Stjepan Sejic’s art to me is the only issue I have with the series.  His painted style is pretty unique and there’s not much else on the market like it.  There’s moments I love it and other points I miss the detail you give up with it.  But the uniqueness alone makes it interesting and worth checking out.  Rating: 7.75

Overall: There’s a bigger picture here, I’m confident of that it’s been thought out and plotted out by Marz and his merry band of puppeteers.  Thought I’m relatively new to the Top Cow universe, I’ve quickly become a fan and while there’s definitely better starting points than this issue, it’s one you’ll want to check out. Rating: 8
