We’ve been waiting for the news of who’s shoulders AMC’s upcoming adaptation of the comic book series the Walking Dead will weigh upon and yesterday we found our answer.  Andrew Lincoln who you might know from Love Actually will be filling the role of main character Rick Grimes.

The series written by Robert Kirkman follows the survivors of a zombie apocalypse.  Instead of relying on the usual scares you’d expect from a zombie comic, the series focuses on the human interactions and psychological impact of living in such a world.

Kirkman had this to say about the casting:

Andrew Lincoln, wow — what an amazing find this guy is…. Writing Rick Grimes month after month in the comic series, I had no idea he was an actual living breathing human being, and yet here he is.

Frank Darabont (Green Mile, Shawshank Redemption) will be directing, executive producing, and writing the show, which films in Atlanta in June of this year.
