Robert Kirkman’s amazing comic book series about a world post zombie invasion has been given the go by AMC.  That’s right, we’ll be seeing the awesomeness that is The Walking Dead on our television screens soon.  The comic focuses on a group of survivors led by a police officer, and anything can and does happen.

Variety is reporting that Frank Darabont penned the adaptation and is on board to direct. Gale Anne Hurd of Valhalla Motion Pictures and David Alpert of Circle of Confusion will exec produce with Darabont.

Kirkman confirmed the news on his Twitter account.

It’ll be amazing to see how they bring this very R-rated comic to the small screen.
