RIPT Apparel Raises $1.2 Million for Comic Publishing

Techcrunch is reporting has raised $1.2 million in funding, with the round being led by DFJ Mercury and included Starz Media, LLC, as well as, Northstar Equity Investors. Individual investments as well came from David Cohen, Chris Graphic.lySacca, Jake Nickell, Paige Craig and Dave McClure.

Originally named Take Comics the system is a content delivery system and community platform for the publishing world.  Their first product, which focuses on comic publishers, creators and enthusiasts, provides a social experience focused on digital comics and related merchandise.  They are hoping to become the solution for print media.

From their website is a place for all people that, like us, love the art and story telling that lives within the pages of a comic book or graphic novel, and enjoy nothing more than sharing that enthusiasm with their friends. also has announced a partnership with Marvel Comics allowing users to read Marvel comics on the go. has also brought in Micah Baldwin as the CEO of the company. Micah was the VP of Business Development and Chief Evangelist at Lijit.

The funds will help expand the platform’s development and marketing efforts as well as content partnerships.  We’ll be bringing you a review of the system in a future post.
