The first Saturday of each may the holidays come a little early to comic book stores across the US and Canada.  This Saturday, May 2nd, is Free Comic Book Day.  Publishers provide some pretty top notch books and other free items to promote the comics medium.

There’s always great issues given away and will vary from store to store.  Numerous stores also host signings with artists and writers.

It’s a great event and I highly recommend checking out your local comic store and take part.  You can find your local shop at the link above.  I’m going for the Mini-Mate pictured to the left and Blackest Night #0.
