A solid week of books starts off the new year.
Monthly Comics
Avengers: The Initiative #20 – It’s transition as the Initiative gathers what’s left of it and new leadership emerges, Pym deals with his wife’s death, Mutant Zero’s identity is revealed, the Skrull Kill Krew moves on, and the Shadow Initiative learn their next target.
Batman: Cacophony #2 – Gang war between Zeus and the Joker escalates as Batman is hunted and caught in between.
Captain America #45 – We learn what Batroc was after as Brubaker continues to weaves the brilliant history of the Captain America together.
Fantastic Four #562 – Sue Richards’ funeral as Millar moves forward with the villain lurking behind the numerous titles he’s writing.
Final Crisis: Secret Files – The origin of Libra. It’s an ok read.
Green Lantern #36 – Begin the rage of the Red Lanterns and the hope of the Blue Lanterns.
Guardians of the Galaxy #8 – Three story lines continue as the Guardians take on the Badoon, Star-Lord does his thing, and Warlock continues his.
Incognito #1 – Can Ed Brubaker do anything wrong in comics? In what seems to be his antithesis to Mark Millar’s Wanted, Incognito follows a former villain entering the Witness Protection Program.
Kick-Ass #5 – Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery as new super hero’s pop up imitating Kick-Ass. God I hope they don’t screw this movie up.
Marvels: Eye of the Camera #2 – How does one person make his legacy seem incredible in a world filled with super heroes.
War Machine #1 – Iron Man with a lot of guns and explosions. Not as political as I thought it would be, but a fun good read and nice beginning for a series.
Wolverine #70 – We finally learn why Logan gave up being Wolverine and refuses to pop his claws and I have to say it’s a good one.
Wolverine: Manifest Destiny #3 – Logan attempts to get some help in taking on his Chinatown problems.
X-Force #10 – Not as good as the last couple of issues. It seemed rushed and almost an easy out, but this arc is still setting up the longer story much like the first arc.
X-Men: Magneto Testament #4 – Max continues to Auschwitz as we witness the horrors that drove a man to become Magneto.
Young X-Men #9 – The newest X-Men take on the Y-Men.
