Weekly Purchases

A large two weeks. I haven’t had a chance to read any of these so can’t give summaries but here’s a list of what I picked up at the store today. I’ll add summaries as I read and will do my best to get some choice quotes this week.

Monthly Purchases

Air #1 – A mystery comic about hijacking airplanes. Really good so far.

Avengers: The Initiative #16 – The Skrull Kill Krew have show up and they’re all out of bubble gum.

Captain America #41 – Ed Brubaker begins to end the next chapter of his amazing run. It says something when you get chills at the last panel of an issue and can’t wait for the next.

DC Universe: Last Will and Testament – What do super heroes do for their last night on Earth?

DMZ #34 – One of the best political comic books out there. The battle for the DMZ takes to the political arena as election day draws to a close and the victor is named.

Final Crisis: Legion of 3 Worlds #1 – Superman Prime shows up in the future after the Sinestro War.

Finale Crisis: Requiem – The last moments of J’onn J’onzz. A very touching comic.

Final Crisis: Rogues’ Revenge #2 – A great second issue. The Rogue’s take it to Libra’s team and show what evil is all about.

Guardians of the Galaxy #4 – How can you not enjoy a comic that has a talking raccoon and dog? Pure awesome, nuff said.

Guerillas #1 – What starts off as a great book about a boy in Vietnam gets really weird at the end.

Iron Man #32 – Really, I’m just waiting until the next issue and War Machine takes the series over.

Kick-Ass #4 – It’s a very good sign when an issue has you laughing out loud after the first few pages and you can’t wait to turn the page. I’m looking forward to the movie, as long as it’s a hard “R” and not watered down like Wanted.

The Mighty Avengers #17 – The one where we learn it wasn’t so smooth and invasion for the Skrulls.

The New Avengers #44 – Kind of like the movie Groundhog Day, but with Reed Richards, Skrulls, and lots of torture.

Runaways #1 – The kids are back on the west coast. A great read, very funny and good action.

Secret Invasion: the Amazing Spiderman #1 – What is Spiderman’s friends up to during the Secret Invasion?

Thunderbolts #123 – DC is under attack by Skrulls and its the Thunderbolts to save the day.

Uncanny X-Men #501 – The X-Men meet American History X, with a twist of Pulp Fiction thrown in (you’ll see).

Wolverine #68 – The brilliance of this story isn’t the dystopian future and the slow unmasking of what happened, it’s the subtle panels of the guilt Logan has. A great read.

X-Factor #34 – Part 3 of X-Factor’s Secret Invasion tie-in. Could of done without it.

X-Factor: Layla Miller – Layla’s adventure in the future continues.

X-Force #6 – Their first mission comes to a close with heavy religious overtones.

X-Men: Legacy #215 – Professor X continues his journey to discover his past and visits Cyclops.

Young X-Men #5 – A slow start, feels like X-Men for starters. Still think it has potential.
