Michael Cohl who is the lead producer for the Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark has confirmed through a statement that actress Natalie Mendoza would be leaving the show. Mendoza portrayed Arachne in the musical.
Mendoza was injured during the first performance of the show which has been plagued by injuries. The statement said it was the actresses decision to leave. Mendoza had this to say in the statement:
It has been a difficult decision to make, but I regret that I am unable to continue on ‘Spider-Man’ as I recover from my injury. I wish Julie and the cast and crew every success with this production.
America Olivo was the understudy for Mendoza and no replacement has been named. The creative team has said they will not comment further.
